Spring Home Maintenance Checklist
Spring is when a house shows what winter did to it. Freeze and thaw widen small cracks, the first warm days reveal the stains the roof leaked all season, and the air conditioner you will need in two months has been sitting idle since October. The weather is mild and the days are long, which makes it the best moment of the year to walk around your home with a critical eye.
This checklist covers the jobs from the HouseKiper schedule that belong between March and May. It starts with the building: roof, facade, gutters and drains. It moves on to getting the cooling ready, then to the satisfying part, which is a proper deep clean of windows, curtains, rugs and the sofa. Outdoors, it covers opening the pool and the grill, and the yearly pest check. Each task shows how often it normally repeats, so you can see which ones really are a once-a-year ritual.
17 tasks below. Want them as reminders instead of a list? Download HouseKiper and it schedules the ones that apply to your home. The full list is on the home maintenance checklist.

Frequently asked questions
What should I check on my house in spring?
Start with the roof, walls and gutters for winter damage, then check ceilings inside for damp stains. Cracks and lifted membrane are much cheaper to fix now than after the summer storms.
When should I service the air conditioner?
Early spring, before the first heat wave. Technicians are less busy, and you find out about a refrigerant leak or a dead capacitor while it is still comfortable without cooling.
Is spring cleaning really worth doing?
Yes, as a maintenance habit rather than a tidy-up. Washing curtains, deep cleaning rugs and the sofa, and doing windows and tracks remove the dust and allergens that built up while the windows stayed shut.
Does this list apply to apartments?
Mostly. Skip the roof, facade and pool items, which are usually the building’s responsibility, and use the apartment checklist for the version without them.
